Calculating length DG.


Let x be the side length of the square.


Let h be the height of triangle ADG.


Let a be the height of triangle CDG.


It implies;


½(xh ) = 18

xh = 36 cm²


Observing Similar Plane Shape Rule.


Consider triangle CDG and height a.


h ~ a

a ~ (x-h)


Cross Multiply.


a² = xh-h²


And xh = 36 cm²


a² = 36-h²


a²+h² = 36


Length DG is;


Notice.


a²+h² = (DG)²


It implies;


(DG)² = 36


DG = √(36)


DG = 6 cm.
