Area rectangle with length 4 units and width 3 units - Area triangle with height 4 units and base 1 unit - Area rectangle with length 2 units and width 1 unit - Area triangle with height and base 3 units respectively.
= (4*3)-½(4*1)-(2*1)-½(3*3)
= 12-2-2-½(9)
= ½(16-9)
= ½(7) square units.
= 3.5 square units.
Or
Area triangle with height and base 2 units respectively+ Area rectangle with length 4 units and width 1 unit - Area triangle with height 4 units and base 1 unit - Area triangle with height and base 1 unit respectively.
= ½(2*2)+(4*1)-½(4*1)-½(1*1)
= ½(4)+4-2-½
= 2+2-½
= 4-½
= ½(8-1)
= ½(7) square units.
= 3.5 square units.
